Set in 1950 and based on the series of autobiographical short stories by Archin Panjabhan. Archin is expelled from Bangkok's Chulalongkorn University in his sophomore year, and there he heads to a remote, mountainous jungle in southern Thailand, where a job is waiting for him. He arrives at the mining company office, only to be told that there is no job. He is finally offered a job to do some manual labor, and also given a house of his own which happens to haunted. Everyone derides him as a "Bangkok boy" who does not fit for hard work and put him to different challenges. He works hard to meet up the standard and eventually becomes a trusted, integral member of the company, working as a surveyor.
